Haley Seeks Return to City Government

Robert Haley is a candidate for mayor of Geary. He will face incumbent mayor Bobby Allen in the April 2 election. Haley has lived in Geary his whole life except for his time in the military. Following his service, Haley served as a Blaine County Sheriff’s deputy, and twice as chief of police in Geary. He spent many years on city council and has worked for Wheeler Chevrolet in transport off and on for 30 years.

He decided to run for mayor because he wants to move the town forward.

“I see a lot of other towns that have cleaned themselves up, have built homes for sale, and it’s working for them,” he said. “We are in an opportune spot, 48 miles to the city (Oklahoma City). Look at El Reno, all these companies moving in,” Haley pointed out.

He said El Reno had moved in mobile homes to house employees of the companies that moved in. “It has worked for them and it could work for Geary, but we have to clean up the town, get rid of the dilapidated houses. It could happen for Geary, but you have to know how to do it,” he said.

Haley said he supports law enforcement, firefighters and the school system. He believes the town should do all it can to help those entities, especially the schools.
