Geary School Board on Financially Solid Ground

The Geary School Board breezed through its agenda June 26. Elementary principal Sean Buchanan told the board his school had received a grant from Devon Energy to establish a Lego League junior team, which he described as beginning robotics. He had attended a one-week training session and said the program would work hand-in-hand with STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – teaching at the elementary and fit well with its Makerspace program as well.

The high school has some 17 students in summer school, regaining credits or undergoing remediation. The report was given by Superintendent Todd Glasgow. He said there had been very good attendance at the summer feeding program, both at breakfast and lunch, with sometimes as many as 70 children and community members taking part.
