Hundreds Involved in Great Plains Prison Riot

The lights were on outside the Great Plains Correctional Facility in Hinton from Sunday night, July 9, until the early Monday morning of July 10, as they are every night.

However, this night in particular was brighter with added flashing lights from multiple law enforcement agencies that were called to the Facility.

Hundreds of inmates, some armed with baseball bats and iron pipes, rioted at the Facility for nearly eight hours, taking two guards hostage and refusing to return to their cells.
