Fundraiser for Geary Graduate Greg Hale

Nationally, nearly 17,000 individuals wait for liver transplantation, while only 6,700 deceased-donor organs become available each year.

Within a week, Greg Hale, a 1989 Geary graduate, went from not being on the transplant list, to on the top of the list, to having a new liver.

“All the doctors said they had never seen something like that happen so fast,” Hale said. “I got my transplant numbers that they use to rate your liver, and I was one point away from being put on life support and dying within a few hours…The lord was looking out for me.”
